Unit 13 - 2.1 Use
research to support the development of a personal self directed A&D
project.
With the FMP it is essential that you produce the main bulk
of your research in the first two weeks. This will then enable you to produce a
coherent proposal and project. Once the project is underway additional research
can and should be produced around the practical elements of the project.
Again; the research process will be far easier and
potentially far more productive if you’ve been using journals such as the
British Journal of Photography (BJP). Leaving your research until you are
issued an assignment is an ineffective approach, you should always be looking
at photography and photographers as a key part of your study process and
without a doubt the use of the BJP is the most effective way of doing this and
generating ideas and far greater understanding of photography.
