Unit 13 - 4.1   Demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and produce a personal self-directed A&D project within an agreed time frame.

Plan – Proposals: The proposal that you produce at the start of the FMP is a very important aspect of your work. Whilst the work will be developed and refined during the course of the assignment it must still conform to your proposal. If you deviate away from your basic Idea/Concept you will limit your chances of attaining good grades and possibly fail to attain a Pass.

Your proposal is an integral part of your planning process and must be produced at the start of the Final Major Project as soon as you have completed your research. It is therefore imperative (Important) that you complete your research within the first 2 weeks of your FMP.

Plan – Section 6 of your Gibbs Reflections: Within the Gibbs reflection process you have an automatic prompt that encourages you to plan. Section 6 of Gibbs is the “Action Plan” What are you going to do next?  This prompts you to plan your next move within your project, thus identifying further opportunities to identify the fact that you are organising and planning your project. The advice is that you *reflect on your work at least once a week.

Plan – shoot plans: Shoot plans can be used and evidenced within your work as you conduct your shoots. Each time you shoot write a list of what it is you’re doing, how you’re doing it, what kit you’re using and why? Also include an assessment of the lighting conditions if you’re using variable lighting and do so in an analytical way “What if” I don’t get the lighting conditions I wish for? Analyse what it is you’re going to do if this situation arises, what will you do instead?

*Remember you can use the Gibbs reflective format to generate almost all of your written work once you get started on the practical and planning stages of the project once the research is completed.
